Acne can be extremely frustrating. Those red, inflamed spots often appear suddenly and seem to grow no matter what you do. Many people turn to quick fixes like popping spots or using harsh face masks, but these approaches often lead to scarring, irritation, and temporary results.
Most acne treatments focus only on what is visible on the skin, while internal factors are often ignored.
Looking Beyond External Treatments
Skin health is closely connected to what happens inside the body. Diet, lifestyle, stress, and hormonal balance all play a role. When these are neglected, the body can become overwhelmed by excess sugars, salts, and artificial additives commonly found in processed and junk foods.
This internal imbalance may show itself through the skin.
Hijama (Cupping Therapy) and Skin Health
Hijama is a traditional therapy used to support the body’s natural processes. It aims to:
Improve circulation
Reduce congestion
Support detoxification
Help regulate internal balance
By supporting circulation and reducing stagnation, hijama may help some people who struggle with persistent or inflammatory skin issues. Everyone responds differently, and some individuals may need multiple sessions depending on their condition.
Hormones and Acne
Hormonal imbalance is a common contributor to acne, particularly:
During puberty
In periods of high stress
During pregnancy
Fluctuating hormones can affect oil production and inflammation in the skin, which may worsen breakouts. Supporting the body holistically can be beneficial during these times.
Inflammatory and Painful Acne
Some forms of acne are deeply inflamed and painful. Hijama is known for its role in reducing inflammation, and some clients report relief in discomfort after treatment. Visible skin changes may take time and vary from person to person.
Supporting the Skin Naturally
Alongside hijama sessions, natural oils can help nourish and protect the skin:
Argan oil – Rich in vitamin E, known to support skin repair and hydration
Olive oil – Traditionally used for skin nourishment and soothing dryness
At our clinic, we use pure argan oil sourced from Morocco and also offer Derma Solutions Xbalm, suitable for most ages (excluding infants under 6 months). It is commonly used for dry, irritated skin, including eczema and psoriasis, and may help support skin recovery and scarring.
Take Control of Your Skin Health
Acne can affect confidence and wellbeing, but there are ways to approach it holistically and patiently. Supporting the body internally while caring for the skin externally can make a difference over time.
